About Brand:

Moon Chang IS THE SUSTAINABLE lifestyle brand, founded in the heart of New York City. The brand is born with the love of her dog, Venus IN BLACK. Venus is mostly received as the goddess of beauty, however, Venus is Moon Chang’s muse, black french bulldog. Moon reinterprets Venus as the symbol of dualism, which is also related to her design aesthetic and philosophy. IT is inspired by the dog and fashion culture in NYC, which is boundless and full of freedom. It is ready to wear and product based so that customers can wear it while walking with their dogs. It seeks a sustainable and ethical approach to the design and production process. The brand goal is to elevate the environmental human and animal friendly lifestyle, to work on enhancing animal rights, and to abandon toxic and non recycled materials, animal leather and furs. VENUS IN BLACK promises to be a sustainable and ethical brand which is born with the love for coexistence with human and animal, and with human and nature.

About Designer:

Moon Chang is a NY based womenswear designer. She earned her MFA degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, 2019, as a first cohort. When she graduated, she was awarded the first prize winner from FIT, The State University of New York. She earned her BFA fashion design from Pratt Institute in New York, 2016. When Moon Chang entered Pratt, she received a $96,000 scholarship, the highest amount, was selected as a Seemann Burse Fund scholarship recipient because she was placed in the President list annually, and she has graduated from Pratt with honors and Pratt Circle Award winner. Moon Chang has started to get attention from the industry since she graduated from her bfa, but she decided to go back to school for her MFA at FIT. Moon Chang built her experiences as a designer from both academic and industrial fields in NYC. Moon Chang made her first debut in New York Fashion Week 2020, and launched her contemporary line, VENUS IN BLACK, in 2021.

Moon Chang also awarded many prestigious design competitions, such as the winner of CAAFD NYFW I’m Possible Challenge, H&M Design Awards Semi Finalist, 1 of Top 10 Winners/honorable mention from Nike Design Competition, Golden Winner of A Design Awards, Italy, Winner of Itsliquid Milan, Winner of Cotton Incorporated, Finalist of Amazon Fashion Studio Session, Shortlist for Gucci Fellowship Program, Finalist of CFDA, Finalist of Ralph Pucci Organic Matters, Selected as one of NY Designers to review Reebok Zig Kinetica Sneakers by CFDA, Selected works from Global Emerging Trends A/W 2021-2022 curated daily by WGSN,Selected as the most popular designer from VFiles, and so on.

Moon Chang’ s works have been displayed at many major department stores, such as Macy’s Herald Square, New York, Neiman Marcus, Texas, Saks 5th Avenue, LA, Delano, Las Vegas. Moon Chang has been invited to participate in Tranoi, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Vogue Talents Show, DADA Show, Ontime Show, Labelhood, CAAFD, Street Fashion Week, and so on, from the fashion industry around the world. Also, Moon Chang and her works were exclusively featured in major media, such as Schon!, Vogue Italia, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Metal, L’officiel, Bullett, Flawless, WGSN, WWD, Vulkan, Neu Neu Media, Solstice, Yahoo, Flannel, REVS, Hers, Untitled Magazine, Mob Journal, Pap Magazine, Voice Of America, and so on.
